Step 1: Take the time to research your subject.
It hurts when you put in a ton of effort only to find no one is even interested.
The first step is finding a niche that suits your interests and passions. A niche that has lots of people looking for information.
The video below explains how to do easy research to make sure your not blogging to a tiny audience.

Step 2: Your domain and web hosting
Once you have a niche, you’re ready to get a domain name that is relevant and memorable. You should start by getting both the domain name and hosting together - this can be done for under $20.
If you already own a website, the blog can be in a subdirectory of your site (www.mysite.com/blog) or set up as a subdonain (blog.mysite.com). Either works.
Installing the Wordpress platform on to your web host is relatively easy… most web hosts have it as a automatic install. Instructions are easy to follow.
I chose GoDaddy - it offers a painless way to get your blog started, along with a low price for your domain name and hosting.
Installation instructions are listed below:
- To install WordPress, log in to your Account Manager.
- In the My Products section, select Hosting.
- Next to the hosting account you want to modify, click Open.
- In the Content section of the Hosting Control Center, click the Go Daddy Hosting Connection icon. Go Daddy Hosting Connection displays.
- In the Community Tools panel, click WordPress.
- Click Install Now.
- Read the End User License Agreement, and then click I Agree.
- Choose the domain to install WordPress to.
- Enter a database description and password, and then click Next.
- Choose an installation directory, and then click Next.
- Enter the Admin Name, Admin Password, Email and Blog Title for your WordPressinstallation. Click Finish.
It’s that easy.
